Oh, so you have to TRAIN for a half marathon...

Sunday evening I decided I would run a half marathon in June (the Northern Olympic Half...the fact that the race title refers to a mountain range makes me a little nervous...) with Col.

I downloaded my novice runner's training program, taped it to the fridge, and scheduled in my runs for this week (two 3-mile runs and one 4-mile run plus cross training and strength work). Since that evening I have worked out...zero times. It's an interesting phenomenon; it's as though I assume my body will just GET IN SHAPE on its own for the race without me having to, you know, run or something. Kind of like paying for a gym membership--it makes you feel healthy even if you aren't using it.

I have a semi-excuse in that I tweaked a back muscle last week and have been dealing with some spasms. That said, I doubt jogging would hurt it, so this is really more about laziness. SO--today I will run. I promise. Unless someone offers me a glass of wine.
