$%&!*$#!!!!

That's me when I step on the scale these days.

As Stephen can attest, I've had several weight-related bad moods (is that an understatement, honey?) in the last week. Why? Well, despite busting my hump (HELLO! No sugar! No bad carbs! Counting calories! Running! Weight training!) the scale continues to move in the wrong direction. While I'd love to blame it on the manufacturer, it seems to be working okay for Stephen so I'm guessing the problem lies elsewhere.

Which brings me to my options. I can either continue to spin into a swearing rage every few days when I check my progress or I can develop other means of defining success. For Stephen's sake, I've decided on the latter. So, instead of getting hung up on what the scale says (the bastard!), I am going to do the following:

1. Take my measurements every few weeks and use that as a way to gauge my fat loss
2. Focus on increases in strength while weight training and speed and endurance while running
3. Keep off the scale except for my official weigh-in day. This will be hard--perhaps I will make it my behavioral goal for next week.

This stall in weight loss may not bode well for my place in the standings, but I am trying REALLY hard to take a more long-term view of things. It's been brutal on my competitive nature, but probably part of a maturation process. Or something.

Just know that when you report your losses each week, I silently hate you more and more.

Kidding. Of course. ;)

Hope everyone else is having a good week. The cold weather should make my outside runs interesting!

Jen - you have got to be gaining muscle.

So, here's another trick. Think about how your clothes felt wearing them 2 weeks ago, vs this week. I am betting that they do feel a bit loser.

Also, dare I say this could be hormonal? (I'm sure the men will appreciate that comment)

Should have proof read better, since "loser" should be "looser"!
