Today from NY

Hello fellow Losers:

Ok, as if Jen doesn't feel good enough about herself after all of that praise she's received, here's more. Thank you Jen for making this FUN.

I'm signing on for the first time since I started my trip. John-boy (as in Tullis) -way to go on the 5+lbs! Karen - seven days is amazing. And, if I recall, one of those days you exercised twice. Your treadmill is getting a workout, too!

My goal this week, as Jen knows, is to avoid the rolls/breads, etc. that are my downfall when I travel. Not easy, as those who travel know - and unfortunately, yesterday I blew it. We had food brought in to our eight hour meeting. And I had a salad - that was good, but looking at a pack of chips when confined with four men for eight hours is just really too much for my discipline level. I caved around 3:00 yesterday. Yes, they were good, but happily, not great. And, here's the good news in my sad, little confession. There were cookies and other chips, etc. around, and I did not indulge.

Last night, I had a very large fruit salad, and this morning a banana and small orange to get my fruit/veggie intake started. Here's another confession: there ain't no way I am measuring my food on a trip. I am eyeballing amounts: two clementine oranges= 1 serving, 1 banana = 1 serving, my salad yesterday was probably 3 cups, etc. I draw the line at carrying a set of measuring cups with me. Hopefully, you will all take me at my word.

I worked out Monday after I arrived. Felt great. I have never done that after a long flight, and I am now a convert. I take the train to Philly tonight, and will work out again once I get there. Somehow, this morning, 5:00 (2:00 your time) was just too early for me, and getting back to the hotel at 9:00 last night was too late. So, today is the day.

Everyone keep up the great work. Welcome, Loree and John - you're among friends.
