Hello! When thinking about why I decided to join this contest my first response was "why not"? The cash prize appealed to my competitive nature, but the comraderie got me overall. It's always easier to get to the finish line if others are there cheering you on (or providing the competitive pressure). Like many of you I've done the diet yo-yo more than once. I recently lost a fair amount of weight which is slowly creeping back on and I've realized the real key to succes is in the exercise. The more you work-out the more you can eat (really!) and still be successful as long as you make decent food choices. My 12 week goal is a little random and involves completing -- 3 consecutive reps of a workout sequence that was given to me by a trainer and I've yet to get through it once.
About 6 years ago I did my first sprint triathlon. Don't worry, I finished nearly at the bottom of my age group and all but crawled to the finish line. The biggest motivator at the time was that I finished even though I wanted to quit at each transition. The slogan for this particular event was "When Was the Last Time You Did Something for the First Time?". It's kind of stuck with me ever since. Keep it in mind as you strive to reach you 12-week fitness goal. Good luck! Kathy T. (friend of Colleen)

Hey fellow BLs, need to ask that you kindly pardon my gross deficiency in substantive blog content today. It's New Years and I rang it in big...finally arrived home at 4:00 this morning. Yep...feelin' fine and dandy and exceptionally qualified for this Biggest Loser challenge.
Seriously though, that middle-aged metabolism nemesis ain’t discriminatin’, and the extra pounds are clinging tenaciously. My regular tennis times make for decent cardio-ex, but don't do much for that ever-fraying elasticity in the love-handle region if ya know what I mean. Maya Angelou believes that her boobs are in a race to get to her knees. Personally that imagery alone more than motivates me to pony up, shed some pounds and start firming up all those squishy delts, pecs and obliques. I am READY to be the Biggest Loser. Sigh…I’ll miss you my beloved Milk Duds and Poppy Cock comfort foods, sniff sniff.
Happy New Year everyone and looking forward to toughin' this through together!
Allie
